Mounting gas shortages are disrupting operations at some JSW Group steel plants, with one JSW Steel Coated Products unit facing a possible shutdown in the coming days, according to an internal note seen by Reuters. The company warned that fuel supply and shipping disruptions linked to the Middle East crisis are hurting operational stability and supply chains. JSW also said the unit could miss tinplate sales obligations under the government’s PLI scheme and has sought a six-month extension. India’s steel industry body has meanwhile urged fast-track subsidised spot imports and priority gas allocation for steel clusters.
