Mineral Resources has reported the first iron ore shipment from its Lamb Creek project in Western Australia’s Pilbara, marking a key step in expanding its iron ore business. The open-pit mine is designed for 7.5 million mt per year and is expected to extend the Pilbara Hub’s production life by more than five years while improving the cost profile. MinRes said the milestone was achieved just three months after ground was broken in December 2025. The project will also support the planned wind-down of the Wonmunna operation, with employees set to transfer to Lamb Creek and no job losses expected. Pilbara Hub production guidance for FY 2025-26 stands at 9-10 million mt.
