Jindal India Limited has commissioned a ₹1,500 crore downstream steel manufacturing facility in West Bengal, strengthening its presence in the eastern region and supporting India’s growing demand for high-quality value-added steel products.
The newly operational plant will produce galvanised, colour-coated, and cold-rolled steel used across construction, infrastructure, and automotive sectors. The company said the project reflects its commitment to enhancing India’s steel value chain and supporting the government’s Make in India initiative.
Located strategically to serve both domestic and export markets, the facility is expected to significantly boost regional employment and spur allied industrial growth. The company highlighted that the plant incorporates modern, energy-efficient technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions and improving product quality.
Jindal India stated that the new downstream unit complements its existing steel pipe and tube operations, enabling the company to deliver end-to-end steel solutions and meet rising demand for coated and processed steel.
Industry experts view the investment as a key step in expanding India’s downstream steel capacity and promoting sustainable, technology-driven manufacturing growth.
