✅ Ukraine’s flat steel exports fell 13.2% m/m in February.
✅ Weak demand and logistical issues impacted shipments.
✅ Exporters expect gradual recovery, but competition remains tough.
Exports of flat steel products from Ukraine dropped by 13.2% month-on-month (m/m) in February 2025, reflecting weak international demand and logistical constraints. According to industry data, Ukraine shipped 395,000 metric tonnes (MT) of flat steel during the month, compared to 455,000 MT in January 2025.
The decline was mainly attributed to slow recovery in key European markets and supply chain disruptions due to geopolitical tensions. Additionally, higher energy costs and global steel price fluctuations have affected Ukraine’s competitiveness in export markets.
Despite the drop, industry experts anticipate a gradual improvement in coming months as trade routes stabilize and demand recovers. However, increased competition from Asian and Middle Eastern suppliers could further challenge Ukrainian exporters.
