Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has unveiled a significant allocation of funds for two critical highway ventures in Arunachal Pradesh, signalling a major boost to connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
With a staggering ₹2,248.94 crore earmarked for the Lada-Sarli segment of NH-913 (Frontier Highway), ₹1014.59 crore for the construction of the Kharsang-Miao-Vijaynagar – Gandhigram section of NH-913 (Frontier Highway) and ₹626.92 crore sanctioned for package-1 covering the Sarli-Huri section, these initiatives are poised to revolutionise transportation networks in state.
The Lada-Sarli stretch, spanning 105.59 km across Packages 1, 2, 3, & 6, aims to establish a robust communication grid for security forces. Emphasising its pivotal role, Shri Gadkari highlighted its potential to spur economic growth, encourage reverse migration towards border areas, and link vital river basins. Additionally, the project is expected to catalyse the development of hydropower projects and promote tourism in Upper Arunachal and Gadkari described the Kharsang-Miao-Vijaynagar – Gandhigram section a 61.55 km road as transformative, emphasising its development under the EPC mode. He highlighted its significance in enhancing connectivity to border areas, thereby fostering socio-economic development. Crucially, the Frontier Highway aims to curb migration, encouraging reverse migration towards Arunachal Pradesh’s border regions.
Additionally, Gadkari noted that the project facilitates essential road infrastructure needed to connect significant river basins. This initiative is expected to catalyse the development of numerous hydropower projects and promote tourism in the pristine, sparsely populated Upper Arunachal region.
In parallel, package 1, encompassing the Sarli-Huri corridor, focuses on ensuring seamless traffic flow along a 35-kilometre route in the Kurung Kumey district. Executed under the EPC mode, this endeavour aims to provide uninterrupted connectivity for villages throughout the year, fostering socio-economic progress in the region's hilly terrains.
This allocation of funds comes alongside other significant investments in highway projects in Arunachal Pradesh, showcasing the government's comprehensive approach to infrastructure development in the region. With a focus on connectivity, economic growth, and environmental sustainability, these initiatives are poised to transform the landscape of the state and improve the lives of its residents.
These visionary initiatives underscore the government's unwavering commitment to fortifying infrastructure and advancing socio-economic development in Arunachal Pradesh, ultimately empowering local communities and propelling overall growth in the state.
