The coal ministry will meet with stakeholders on Friday to discuss how to promote coal and lignite gasification projects throughout the country. The occasion is regarded as a significant step towards realising the nation's potential for using coal and lignite resources to advance sustainable energy solutions.
The chief guest for the event will be Coal Secretary Amrit Lal Meena. "The Ministry of Coal invites all interested stakeholders to join this momentous event and contribute to shaping the future of energy in India," according to an official release.
Coal gasification and liquefaction of 100 million tonnes would be established by 2030, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared earlier this month. In January, the government approved an outlay of ₹8,500 crore as financial assistance for promoting coal and lignite gasification projects.
The government has also approved setting up of a coal-to-SNG (Synthetic Natural Gas) project through a joint venture between Coal India and GAIL at an investment of ₹13,052.81 crore and a coal-to-ammonium nitrate project through a joint venture between CIL and BHEL for ₹11,782.05 crore.
