The BC Jindal Group has announced a massive investment of ₹15,000 crore (around US $1.7 billion) to set up a greenfield downstream steel facility in Odisha by 2030.
The project will be executed through its subsidiary Jindal India Steel Tech Limited (JISTL) in multiple phases:
Phase 1 (by 2027):
Investment of ₹2,500 crore for a Cold Rolling Mill (CRM), Continuous Galvanising Line (CGL), and Colour Coating Line (CCL), with a production capacity of 960,000 tonnes of coated steel per year.
Final Phase (by 2030):
Expansion to 3 million tonnes per annum of flat steel products and a 200,000-tonne pipe manufacturing unit.
The new facility will cater to rising demand for coated and value-added steel, create large-scale employment, and further strengthen Odisha’s position as a leading steel hub in India.
