Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (UISL), a subsidiary of Tata Steel, has planted 5,000 saplings across Jamshedpur as part of its ongoing initiative to increase the city’s green cover and promote environmental sustainability.
The plantation drive was carried out in collaboration with local civic bodies, schools, and community groups, under the company’s “Go Green, Live Green” campaign. The species planted include native and pollution-resistant trees, selected to enhance biodiversity and improve air quality in the industrial city.
According to UISL officials, the initiative aligns with Tata Steel’s broader sustainability vision, which focuses on carbon reduction, circular economy practices, and community-driven environmental programs. The company aims to plant over 25,000 trees annually across Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas.
Speaking at the event, UISL representatives emphasized the role of corporate participation in building eco-resilient urban ecosystems. The effort also supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on climate action and sustainable cities.
This initiative reflects Tata Steel’s long-standing commitment to green growth and responsible industrial development in Jharkhand.
