Baldota Group enters the steel sector with a ₹54,000-cr project.

Plant to have 5 MTPA capacity and generate thousands of jobs.

Boosts Karnataka’s position as a steel-producing hub.

In a landmark move, the Baldota Group has announced its foray into the steel industry with a ₹54,000-crore greenfield steel plant in Koppal district, Karnataka. The proposed integrated steel project aims to produce 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of finished steel and is poised to significantly boost India’s domestic steel output.

According to sources, the project will be established in phases, and is expected to create over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. The company has already acquired substantial land and is in the process of obtaining environmental clearances.

This strategic entry comes at a time when India’s demand for steel is rising across infrastructure, real estate, and renewable sectors. With decades of mining expertise, Baldota’s vertical integration from iron ore mining to steel manufacturing could bring added efficiency and cost optimization.

Experts believe this move reflects the group’s long-term confidence in India's industrial growth story and aligns with the government’s National Steel Policy 2030.
