Bhubaneswar, May 15, 2025 — In a strategic move to bolster Odisha's position as a steel manufacturing hub, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi convened a high-level meeting with representatives from the Indian Steel Association (ISA) to address the challenges faced by the steel industry, particularly concerning the availability of raw materials.

Commitment to Raw Material Availability: CM Majhi assured industry leaders of the state's dedication to ensuring a steady supply of essential raw materials, including iron ore, coal, and limestone, to meet the growing demands of the steel sector.
Infrastructure Development: The government plans to enhance infrastructure, including transportation and logistics, to facilitate the smooth movement of raw materials to steel plants across the state.
Streamlining Mining Operations: Efforts are underway to expedite the auctioning of iron ore blocks, with nearly 30 mines expected to be auctioned this year. The state aims to ensure timely commencement of mining operations to meet the projected steel production targets.
Industry Response:
The ISA delegation, led by Chairman Naveen Jindal, welcomed the government's proactive approach. Industry leaders expressed optimism about the collaborative efforts to address raw material challenges and enhance the state's steel production capacity.
