Tata Steel CEO & MD, TV Narendran, has highlighted the potential impact of former U.S. President Donald Trump's proposed tariffs on European operations while emphasizing the need for policy intervention in India to promote greener steel manufacturing.
Speaking on the issue, Narendran stated that Tata Steel is closely studying how the tariffs could affect their Europe-based operations, as increased duties on steel imports might disrupt supply chains and increase costs. He noted that policy stability is crucial for companies like Tata Steel, which operate on a global scale.
At the same time, Narendran urged the Indian government to implement stronger policies that encourage green steel production. With global steelmakers shifting toward low-carbon manufacturing, he stressed that India needs a clear roadmap to stay competitive. He called for incentives, carbon pricing mechanisms, and infrastructure support to boost sustainability efforts in the steel sector.
As the steel industry navigates economic uncertainties, Tata Steel continues to focus on technological innovation and sustainability, ensuring that it remains a strong player in both domestic and international markets.
