In advance of the much-anticipated Interim Budget, the Central government cut the price of jet fuel, or ATF, in the nation's capital on Thursday by ₹1,221 per liter. The price of jet fuel has declined for the past four consecutive months.
ATF rates for domestic flights were ₹1,00,772.17 per km in Delhi, ₹1,09,797.33 per km in Kolkata, ₹94,246.00 per km in Mumbai, and ₹1,04,840.19 in Chennai following the most recent increase. The new rates will take effect on February 1. The decrease in the price of jet fuel, which makes up for 40% of an airline's operating cost, will ease the burden on already financially strained airlines.
Moreover, the cost of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) has been hiked by ₹14. The hike in prices specifically affects the 19-kilogram commercial LPG gas cylinders, witnessing a surge of ₹14. This move in LPG prices is poised to have implications on various sectors and businesses relying on commercial LPG for their operations.
State-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) revise cooking gas and ATF prices on the 1st of every month, based on the average international price in the previous month.
