Vedanta announces an increase in production of aluminium, iron ore, steel, and zinc in Q1

Vedanta Ltd, a mining giant, stated that production of aluminium, zinc, iron ore, and steel increased in the June quarter. However, during the quarter, the production of gas, oil, and mined metal from elsewhere declined.
Vedanta said in a report to the BSE that the company's aluminium output increased by 3% to 5,96,000 tonnes in the first quarter compared to the same period last year. The saleable metal output at Zinc India increased to 2,62,000 tonnes from 2,60,000 tonnes. While at Zinc International, mined metal output fell to 38,000 tonnes from nearly 68,000 tonnes in the first quarter of FY24.
Meanwhile, oil and gas output dropped 17% to 112,400 average daily gross operated production (boepd) during the quarter from 134,900 boepd a year earlier. Saleable iron ore production rose to 1.3 million tonnes (MT) from 1.2 MT in the year-ago period. The total saleable steel production rose 10% to 3,56,000 tonnes, and power sales rose 13% to 4,791 million units from 4,256 million units in the April-June period of the last financial year.
