Vedanta Aluminium has revealed a comprehensive strategy to curtail its carbon footprint, focusing on enhanced resource efficiencies, increased use of renewables in its energy mix, and converting waste into a valuable resource. The company, a leading aluminium producer in India, is also building enduring partnerships with communities for inclusive development, as stated by Vedanta Aluminium CEO John Slaven.

In a transformative journey, Vedanta Aluminium is committed to sustainability that surpasses mere business compliance, aiming to positively impact the environment. The company has secured the top rank in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) rankings for the aluminium industry in 2023, acknowledging its dedication to embedding sustainability practices across its entire value chain, from sourcing to product delivery.

Vedanta Aluminium is steadfast in its commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050, adopting a dual strategy of both reducing and offsetting its carbon footprint. To achieve reduction, the company is intensifying efforts to increase the proportion of renewables in its energy mix, enhancing manufacturing excellence for higher operational efficiencies, and transitioning to low-carbon energy sources such as biofuels.

The recent recognition in the S&P CSA rankings further underscores Vedanta Aluminium's dedication to sustainable practices. As a business of Vedanta Limited, the company is a major player in the aluminium sector, producing over half of India's aluminium, totalling 2.29 million tonnes in FY23.
