India–US Trade Tensions Rise Over Steel and Auto Tariffs NMDC Limited reports a 38% drop in Q4 FY24 consolidated net profit RINL to Raise $23 Million Through Land Sales Amid Crisis
Steel Strips Wheels Limited (SSWL) has approved a ₹420 crore capacity expansion in Gujarat by setting up two new manufacturing units one for alloy wheels and another for aluminium steering knuckles to align with rising automotive demand and increasing aluminium penetration.
To enable the expansion, the company’s board cleared an 11-month lease (extendable) with its wholly owned subsidiary AMW Autocomponent Limited (AACL) starting December 26, 2025. The lease covers about 288,793 sq. m at Bhuj (Kachchh), Gujarat, at a monthly rent of ₹45 lakh.
The planned alloy wheels unit carries an initial capacity of 7.2 million units per annum with an estimated ₹300 crore investment. The aluminium steering knuckle unit is planned at 0.6 million units per annum with an estimated ₹120 crore investment. Both are targeted to become operational in Q4 FY 2026–27, subject to statutory and regulatory approvals.
SSWL indicated it expects to fund the projects through debt, internal accruals, or a combination, positioning the move as a forward-looking capacity and product-mix upgrade for domestic OEM and export-led growth.
