SAIL's Odisha group of iron ore mines reach highest-ever output in FY 2023-24

The Odisha group of Mines (OGOM), operating under the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) of the state-run steelmaker Steel Authority of India (SAIL), has achieved its highest-ever annual iron production of 14.31 million metric tonnes (MMT)  in the fiscal year 2023-24, a 2.76% increase from the previous fiscal year, according to a company statement.
 
Additionally, the OGoM produced the highest-ever yearly despatches of iron ore during the year, amounting to 14.15 MMT, an increase of 3.84% over the preceding fiscal year.
 
Several individual mines within the group have also set new milestones, such as Bolani Ore Mines, which reported its highest annual iron ore production of 7.20 MMT, beating the previous record of 7.11 MMT set in 2022-23. Taldih Iron Mines reached its highest annual production since its inception, with a total of 1.489 MMT, up from 1.34 MMT the previous year.
