Diya Kumari, the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and also serving as the state's Finance Minister, presented an interim budget in the Assembly on February 8. This interim budget allocates ₹1,000 crore towards the establishment and upgrading of schools, colleges, and hospitals in Assembly constituencies. Notably, a full budget for the fiscal year 2024–25 will be presented in July.

The interim budget, presented under Article 116 of the Constitution, aims to cover essential government expenditures for a limited period until the full budget is approved. It typically grants funds equivalent to one-sixth of the total estimated budget for a few months.

During her address, State Finance Minister Diya Kumari highlighted the gap between revenue receipts and expenditures, attributing it to the implementation of numerous schemes using state resources by the previous government. She expressed concerns over the slowing development pace in Rajasthan during the former government's tenure, citing issues such as corruption and poor law and order.

Significant announcements in the interim budget include the allocation of ₹1,000 crore for the establishment and enhancement of educational and healthcare infrastructure in Assembly constituencies. Additionally, the budget introduces the CM Vishwakarma Pension Scheme for labourers and street vendors. Furthermore, plans entail recruitment to fill 70,000 vacant positions and the launch of the Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan, aiming to create five lakh water harvesting structures in 20,000 villages over the next four years, with a provision of ₹11,200 crore.

To address traffic congestion in Jaipur city, the Finance Minister disclosed plans to prepare a detailed project report for the expansion of the Jaipur Metro from Sitapura to Ambabari.

In a bid to ensure equitable development across regions, Diya Kumari emphasised the allocation of ₹1,000 crore for the establishment and enhancement of additional educational, healthcare, and administrative facilities in previously underserved areas such as Ladpura, Nasirabad, Siwana, Ahor, Dag, and Malpura.
