Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel producer, has supplied its high-performance 301N austenitic stainless steel for the Bangalore Metro Phase 2 expansion, strengthening its role in India’s urban mobility push. The newly inaugurated Yellow Line, part of this project, was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier in August, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) inducted three trainsets from the CRRC–Titagarh Consortium under Phase 2 operations. The supplied material is being used for coach roofs and structural components, offering superior strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, fire and crash safety, and a reduced carbon footprint. These features make 301N stainless steel a sustainable choice for modern metro systems.
Commenting on the development, Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, said the company is proud to contribute to India’s metro modernisation, which enhances safety, longevity, and sustainability.
Jindal Stainless has a long-standing association with metro and railway projects in India and abroad, including partnerships with Alstom India for systems in Queensland, Melbourne, and Sydney.
With FY25 revenues of INR 40,182 crore, Jindal Stainless is expanding its annual capacity to 4.2 million tonnes by FY27, reinforcing its global leadership in stainless steel.
