The Indian National Committee World Mining Congress, under the patronage of the Ministry of Coal, is set to launch the "Coal Logistics Plan & Policy" on February 29, 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event will be graced by Union Minister of Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Pralhad Joshi, who will unveil the plan as the chief guest. Senior officials from NITI Aayog and various Ministries, including Coal, Railways, Power, Steel, Mines, Shipping Ports & Waterways, along with industry representatives from Coal, Steel, Power, and other sectors, will participate.

The Ministry of Coal has initiated several measures to enhance India's energy security, with a target to produce 1.5 billion tonnes of coal by FY 2030. The integrated Coal Logistics Plan and Policy aim to develop a technologically advanced, cost-effective, resilient, and sustainable logistics ecosystem for coal evacuation. This strategic framework is aligned with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, aiming to reduce dependence on imported coal.

To achieve the goal of nearly doubling coal production by 2030, the Ministry has devised a comprehensive action plan for the development of coal logistics infrastructure nationwide. Key projects include enhancing first-mile connectivity, promoting waterways transportation of coal, augmenting rail evacuation capacities, and facilitating coastal shipping of coal.

The event intends to foster detailed discussions and gather suggestions for the inclusive development of infrastructure across India, with a specific focus on optimising coal evacuation processes.
