India’s coking coal port traffic up 11% in April-Jan

India's coal imports through all major ports in the country were provisionally projected to be 54.54 million MT during the April–January period of the fiscal year 2023–24, up 11.47% year over year.

In January 2023, inward shipments of coking coal totaled 5.715 million metric tonnes, down from 6.495 million metric tonnes in December 2023.

The tentative estimate for the total freight traffic of iron ore, including pellets, for the April–December period is 49.966 million mt, which represents a 42.43% surge over the same time in the previous fiscal year.
