The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will shortly provide an action plan outlining how it will use the ₹200 crore provided to the urban local body in the state budget to undertake different development activities in 60 wards of the city.
The govt had declared ₹2,000 crore for the development of infrastructure in 10 municipal corporations, including MCC, under the Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Vikas Yojana (MGNVY) 2.0 in the state budget.
Urban development minister Byrathi Suresh has directed the MCC to prepare an action plan within three months to make use of the grant. The minister after unveiling the portrait of 12th-century social reformer Basavanna at the MCC, on Saturday, said that the govt will release ₹25 crore, which was sanctioned in 2023, soon.
“Each of the 60 wards in Mangaluru city will get more than ₹3 crore for infrastructure development under the MGNVY-2.0. Hence, the city corporation should send an action plan to the govt,” the minister said and directed MCC commissioner Anand CL to send the action plan within three months.
