Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Limited (KFIL), a major participant in the Indian castings and pig iron sector, has reopened its micro blast furnace in Hiriyur. This move comes following a temporary stoppage that began on February 22, 2024, in response to dwindling demand and pig iron prices.
The closure was a tactical move by KFIL to maintain its overall company resilience and production efficiency in the face of unstable market conditions.
In a statement, KFIL said it has taken aggressive measures to restart the furnace because the market is showing signs of improvement and pig iron prices are stabilising. This action demonstrates KFIL's flexibility in adapting to market changes and its dedication to upholding strict criteria for operational excellence and dependability.
