JSW Steel rises 2% on gas supply worries HSBC raises Tata Steel target to ₹250 British Steel to supply 120,000 mt billet to Nigeria ₹3,200 crore Tata Steel EAF starts in Ludhiana
JSW Steel Ltd, India’s leading private steel producer, reported a record crude steel production of 7.9 million tonnes (MT) in the second quarter (Q2) of FY 2025–26, marking a 6% year-on-year (YoY) increase from 7.46 MT in the same period last year.
The growth was driven by strong domestic demand, enhanced capacity utilization, and improved operational efficiency across its Indian plants. Production from the company’s standalone operations in India rose 7% YoY to 6.75 MT, supported by steady demand from the infrastructure, construction, and automotive sectors.
JSW Steel’s consolidated production, which includes output from its overseas operations in the USA and Italy, also saw a marginal rise. The company noted that improved logistics, stable raw material supply, and higher capacity ramp-up contributed to the robust quarterly performance.
Industry analysts said the record output reflects India’s expanding steel consumption and JSW Steel’s ability to meet growing domestic and export demand. The company continues to focus on green steel initiatives, energy efficiency, and expansion projects aimed at achieving a 50 MTPA capacity by 2030.
