India is preparing a major global platform to showcase its steel industry, with the government announcing plans for “Bharat Steel 2026”, a large-scale international exhibition-cum-conference. The event, to be hosted by the Ministry of Steel, is scheduled for 16–17 April 2026 in New Delhi, and will bring together producers, buyers, investors and technology providers from India and overseas.
Positioned as a flagship showcase, Bharat Steel 2026 is expected to highlight India’s growing role in the global steel value chain, ongoing capacity expansions and its roadmap for green and value-added steel. Policymakers are likely to use the platform to present India as a reliable, large-scale supplier as well as an attractive destination for investment in steel, mining, logistics and downstream manufacturing.
The two-day event is also aimed at strengthening linkages between primary steelmakers and end-use sectors such as infrastructure, construction, engineering, automobiles and renewables. Conference sessions are expected to focus on decarbonisation, advanced technologies, scrap and raw material security, and trade-related challenges, in line with global climate and competitiveness pressures.
For domestic industry, Bharat Steel 2026 offers an opportunity to deepen export relationships, form joint ventures and benchmark against international best practices, while reinforcing India’s ambition to be counted among the world’s leading steel hubs in the coming decade.
