Hindustan Zinc and Tata Steel have expanded their partnership to increase the use of EcoZen, Hindustan Zinc’s low-carbon zinc solution, in steel manufacturing. The move signals a stronger push toward greener raw material sourcing and lower emissions across the steel value chain.

EcoZen is produced using renewable energy and has a verified carbon footprint of less than one tonne of CO₂ equivalent per tonne of zinc, which Hindustan Zinc says is about 75% lower than the global industry average. That makes it an important input for companies looking to cut emissions at the material stage of production.

Zinc plays a key role in galvanised steel by protecting it against corrosion and extending product life. This gives the partnership relevance across infrastructure, automotive, renewable energy, electronics and energy storage segments, where durable coated steel is widely used.
