AM/NS India has commissioned a new Pickling Line and Tandem Cold Mill at its Hazira facility in Gujarat, strengthening its position in India’s automotive steel market.

The new line has an annual capacity of 2 million tonnes and will produce high-quality cold rolled base steel for advanced automotive applications. It will support production of Advanced High Strength Steel, galvanised, galvannealed and press-hardened steel grades used in modern vehicles.

The facility is expected to help reduce India’s dependence on imported high-grade automotive steel while supporting the country’s growing auto manufacturing sector. Steel grades produced at the unit can reach strength levels of up to 1180 MPa, helping automakers improve vehicle safety, reduce weight and meet Bharat NCAP standards. The project is part of AM/NS India’s larger ₹60,000-crore Hazira expansion programme, which includes upstream, downstream and infrastructure development. With rising demand for value-added flat steel, the new line is expected to support India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat goals.
