Coal production from captive, commercial mines increased by 35% in Q1

Coal production from captive and commercial mines increased 35% year on year to 39.53 million tonnes (MT) in the first quarter of the fiscal year.
 
The coal ministry stated that fuel dispatch from such mines increased by 34.25% to 45.68 MT during the same time. In the reporting quarter, power sector production from such mines increased by a fifth to 30.16 MT. The non-regulated sector's output increased by 77% year on year to 2.55 million tonnes. 
 
The output from the mines put up for auction to be sold commercially increased by 143% year over year to 6.81 MT. Dispatch to the power sector rose to 35.65 MT, representing a 23.3% rise year on year. Dispatch to the non-regulated sector rose to 2.38 MT in Q1 of this year, reflecting a 43.4% year-on-year increase.
