2️⃣ Anti-dumping duties could safeguard domestic manufacturers.
3️⃣ The government’s decision may impact steel users and overall pricing.

Indian alloy steel manufacturers are preparing to file an anti-dumping petition against Chinese steel imports, citing unfair pricing that undercuts domestic production. Industry sources indicate that Chinese alloy steel is being sold at lower-than-market rates, leading to financial strain on local producers.

The move comes amid rising concerns over China’s excess steel exports flooding global markets. Indian steelmakers argue that without protective measures, domestic alloy steel production could suffer, impacting employment and supply chains. The plea will be submitted to India’s Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), which will assess whether duties should be imposed.

Analysts suggest that imposing anti-dumping duties could stabilize local pricing and strengthen India's steel sector. However, some downstream industries, particularly auto and engineering firms, may oppose restrictions due to potential cost hikes. The government is expected to weigh industry concerns before making a final decision.
