Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a video showcasing the successful launch of a massive 130-metre steel bridge for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project in Gujarat. The engineering milestone was achieved near Bharuch district as part of India’s first high-speed rail corridor.
The steel bridge, weighing nearly 2,780 metric tonnes, was installed over National Highway-64 and the Bharuch–Dahej freight railway line using advanced launching techniques. Officials completed the operation within nearly 12 hours through carefully planned traffic diversions and freight movement coordination. The bridge has been designed for a service life of around 100 years and fabricated at a workshop in Bhuj, Gujarat.
The Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor is one of India’s largest infrastructure projects, featuring 28 steel bridges, multiple river crossings, mountain tunnels, and an undersea tunnel section. Railway authorities state that construction progress across Gujarat and Maharashtra continues at a rapid pace as the country advances toward high-speed rail connectivity.
