Andhra Pradesh took a major step toward industrial expansion as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation for ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India’s massive integrated steel plant in Anakapalle district. With an investment of Rs 1.36 lakh crore, the project is set to become the biggest in the state’s steel sector and could generate around one lakh direct and indirect jobs. Planned in two phases, the greenfield steel plant will have a total annual capacity of 17.8 million tonnes, while a captive port will add further infrastructure strength and create about 6,000 more jobs. The first phase, backed by over Rs 70,000 crore, is expected to begin production by 2028, strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s position as a fast-rising steel and manufacturing hub.
