Ukraine’s Zaporizhstal has completed the first stage of a major overhaul at its hot rolling shop, marking an important operational milestone for the steelmaker. The work covered the Slabbing 1150 and BTLS-1680 rolling mills and was finished ahead of schedule, showing steady progress in the plant’s phased maintenance program.
The company allocated about UAH 9.8 million for this first stage. At Slabbing 1150, the overhaul included new spindles for the horizontal roll stand, hydraulic system repairs, restoration of stand components, and repairs to parts of the roller table and transmission gearbox. At BTLS-1680, the work included gearbox overhaul, shaft component replacement, drive-line restoration, gear roll replacement, and chain replacement in parts of the roller table.
The next phase of the capital repair program is planned for autumn 2026 as part of Zaporizhstal’s ongoing maintenance strategy. For the steel market, the update signals the company’s focus on improving equipment reliability, sustaining rolling operations, and supporting production efficiency through phased modernization.
