Hindustan Zinc, a company in the Vedanta group, declared that its greenhouse gas emission intensity dropped by 14% over the previous four years.
Hindustan Zinc is boosting the amount of renewable energy in its energy mix and increasing operational efficiency in an effort to reduce its carbon footprint.
"Through the strategic use of advanced technology, the company has recorded a 14% decrease in GHG (greenhouse gas) emission intensity compared to the br year 2020, while increasing production each year," the statement mentioned.
Hindustan Zinc focuses on a two-pronged approach of mitigating and offsetting its carbon footprint.
The company's Pantnagar Metal Plant operates on 100% green power and it has signed a 450-mw renewable power delivery agreement poised to mitigate around 2.7 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
