Ukraine exported over 1.1 million tons of flat steel products during January–August 2025, according to data released by industry sources. The figure underscores the resilience of Ukraine’s steel sector despite ongoing challenges from geopolitical tensions and logistical disruptions caused by the war.
Flat steel exports, which include hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and coated products, continue to be a key driver of Ukraine’s steel trade. The bulk of shipments were directed toward European markets, where Ukrainian steelmakers benefit from tariff preferences under EU trade agreements. Demand from Turkey and the Middle East also contributed to steady export volumes.
Although export levels remain below pre-war figures, the 2025 performance highlights gradual recovery in Ukraine’s industrial output. Experts note that improving port operations and international support for trade corridors have played an important role in sustaining steel exports.
The Ukrainian steel industry is focusing on stabilizing production and exploring opportunities in high-demand markets while adapting to global sustainability standards. The continued strength in flat steel exports is seen as vital for Ukraine’s economy and reconstruction efforts.
