Baogang Group, one of China’s leading steel producers, has won the tender to supply steel for the Lower Yarlung Zangbo River Hydropower Project in Tibet. This strategically significant project is among China's largest infrastructure developments in the Himalayan region.
The steel will be used in dam construction, power station infrastructure, and high-pressure pipelines—requiring high-performance, corrosion-resistant grades suitable for extreme altitudes and environmental conditions.
Baogang’s success in this tender underscores its growing role in supporting national energy and infrastructure projects through advanced material solutions. It also aligns with China’s broader goals of boosting domestic renewable energy capacity and enhancing grid resilience in remote regions.
This development reinforces Baogang’s reputation in large-scale project supply and highlights the importance of the steel sector in enabling clean energy transformation and regional development in challenging terrains.
