PM Modi unveils over ₹1,330 crore worth of projects

In a significant move towards bolstering Goa's development trajectory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for projects worth over ₹1,330 crores under the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa 2047 program. The initiatives span diverse sectors, including education, sports, water treatment, waste management, and tourism, aiming to enhance infrastructure and uplift socio-economic standards in the state.

Among the key highlights, PM Modi inaugurated the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology, Goa, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to cater to the needs of students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, he dedicated the new campus of the National Institute of Watersports, which will offer tailor-made courses aimed at fostering the development of watersports and water rescue activities.

Further, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Passenger Ropeway, along with associated tourism activities, connecting Panaji and Reis Magos. He also marked the commencement of the construction of a 100 MLD water treatment plant in South Goa, signifying strides towards ensuring water security and sanitation in the region.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi emphasised the unique cultural heritage and natural beauty of Goa, highlighting its potential as a premier tourist destination. He underscored the government's commitment to promoting all forms of tourism in India, emphasising the country's rich cultural and natural diversity. PM Modi reiterated the government's focus on enhancing infrastructure and connectivity in Goa, positioning it as a logistics hub and a hub for conference tourism.

Furthermore, PM Modi acknowledged the significant contributions of football to Goa's sporting landscape, honouring Brahmanand Shankhwalkar with the Padma Award for his invaluable contribution to the sport. He also commended the infrastructure developed for the National Games, which will aid athletes in realising their dreams.

In conclusion, PM Modi called for collective efforts towards the rapid development of Goa, urging all stakeholders to contribute to the state's progress. The event witnessed the presence of the Governor of Goa, Shri P. S. Sreedharan Pillai; the Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Pramod Sawant; and the Union Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, among others.

The unveiling of these transformative projects marks a significant milestone in Goa's journey towards holistic development, reflecting the government's unwavering commitment to fostering growth and prosperity in the region.
