The government stated that Coal India Ltd (CIL) has retained its lead among other Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) in Government e-Marketplace (GeM) procurement. GeM is the country's online platform for public procurement.
According to a statement from the coal ministry, as of February 14, 2024, procurement under GeM has increased to ₹63,890 crore, 300% of the yearly goal of ₹21,325 crore. "The Ministry of Coal has achieved a remarkable milestone in Government e-Marketplace (GeM) procurement, surpassing its target for the fiscal year 2023-24," said the statement.
The notable rise in GeM procurement emphasises the ministry's commitment and the coal PSUs' strong cooperation and contributions."Their proactive involvement has been instrumental in driving GeM procurement success story, further solidifying their position as key stakeholders in India's coal sector," the ministry said.
