The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has big plans for the 2024-25 season. They've identified 1055 programs to explore minerals and study the Earth. Out of these, 392 projects are about developing minerals, and they could lead to finding valuable minerals in the future. They're especially keen on finding important minerals like lithium.

133 more projects focus on discovering minerals and have the potential for future exploration. The GSI is putting a lot of effort into exploring minerals important for making fertilisers. They've approved 188 projects for this, which is a 50% increase from last year. These projects involve minerals like rare earth elements, graphite, lithium, vanadium, and platinum group elements.

In addition, 111 projects are looking at natural hazards and doing good things for society. Some of these projects are in response to requests from states dealing with specific natural issues. The GSI also works with universities, agencies, and various authorities on 43 projects to benefit society.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, VL Kantha Rao, is encouraging exploration agencies to speed up finding important minerals. He's also urging state governments to actively work on exploration projects using funding from the National Mineral Exploration Trust. This means finding minerals and looking at the bigger picture of understanding the Earth and helping society.
