Government aiming to make electricity bills zero, says PM Modi in Guwahati

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the central government is working towards making electricity bills for households in the country zero. He made this statement while addressing a gathering in Guwahati after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of projects worth ₹11,599 crore.

PM Modi highlighted the government's commitment to providing electricity to every household over the last decade and stated that the focus is now on reducing electricity bills to zero. He mentioned the announcement of a significant rooftop solar scheme in the budget, where the government will initially assist one crore families in installing rooftop solar panels. 

The Prime Minister emphasised the BJP's commitment to reaching every beneficiary and making citizens' lives comfortable. He pointed out that the budget reflects this commitment by allocating ₹11 lakh crore to infrastructure development.

Among the key projects inaugurated was the Maa Kamakhya Divya Pariyojana, sanctioned under the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for the North Eastern Region (PM-DevINE) scheme. The project aims to provide world-class amenities to pilgrims visiting the Kamakhya temple.

PM Modi expressed his gratitude for being able to dedicate projects for Assam and highlighted the strengthening of connectivity in the region. He noted that these projects would enhance employment opportunities in the tourism sector. Additionally, he acknowledged the increasing enthusiasm for tourism and pilgrimage in the country, citing the significant number of visitors to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya since its opening.

Before launching the developmental projects, PM Modi conducted a roadshow in Guwahati, where people gathered on the streets to greet him with chants of 'Modi, Modi.' The Prime Minister reciprocated with waves, acknowledging the enthusiastic reception.
