The total value of shipments declined 11.4% to $269.70 million, reflecting weaker import activity in the Turkish steel market. In May alone, imports reached 77,830 metric tonnes, down 4% from April and 22% compared with the same month last year. Import value dropped to $51.02 million, marking an 11.2% monthly decline and a 25.5% year-on-year decrease.

South Korea remained Turkey’s largest cold-rolled steel supplier despite a 2.5% drop in shipments to 146,688 metric tonnes. Russia ranked second with imports rising 1.3% to 105,454 metric tonnes.

Belgium recorded a sharper 62.7% fall, while France strengthened its position with an 80.9% increase to 35,261 metric tonnes. The overall import decline was mainly driven by reduced supplies from China and Belgium, while France gained a larger share of Turkey’s cold-rolled flat steel market.
