Tata Steel set to merge NINL MinRes ships first Lamb Creek ore Tata Steel UK backs circular push
Tata Steel UK has joined the “Circularity in Practice” initiative, a nationwide effort designed to expand circular economy practices across the UK construction sector. Backed by King Charles III, the initiative promotes reuse, remanufacturing, and high-quality recycling to improve resource efficiency and reduce waste.
As a founding signatory, Tata Steel UK plans to embed circular thinking more deeply into its operations while working with industry partners to scale practical solutions. The move also aligns with the company’s wider shift toward electric arc furnace-based steelmaking, where recycled scrap steel is expected to play a central role in future production.
The company said this transition will support more sustainable, UK-made steel production and strengthen resilience across the manufacturing supply chain. For the steel sector, the development highlights how recycling, scrap utilization, and low-emission production are becoming central to the next phase of industrial transformation in the UK.
