Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd (GPIL) has received approval from the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) to supply its full range of high-tensile steel billets. These billets meet the IS 14650 standard and can now be used by manufacturers producing galvanized structures for PGCIL’s power transmission projects.
The approval, granted on July 2, 2025, is valid until July 2026 and covers all grades of GPIL’s high-tensile billets. This development builds on a previous partial approval received in February and marks a significant milestone in GPIL’s vertical integration strategy.
With this clearance, GPIL can now use its in-house billets for supplying transmission structure components, reducing reliance on external billet suppliers. This shift is expected to improve margins and operational efficiency. Industry analysts suggest the move could enhance the company’s annual profitability by approximately ₹150 crore.
GPIL’s integrated operations—from iron ore mining to billet production and fabrication—position it strongly to meet the growing demand in India’s power infrastructure sector.
