NTPC, a state-run power company, and its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy signed two separate initial agreements to investigate the feasibility of establishing supercritical thermal plants, renewables, and green hydrogen in Rajasthan.
NTPC and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam inked a memorandum of understanding to investigate the possibility of adding supercritical units to the existing Chhabra Thermal Power Plant. Furthermore, the Parties intend to implement measures to improve efficiency and lower the generation cost at the plant's existing units.
The MoU calls for NTPC or its affiliates to carry out 15 to 20-year annuity-based Renovation and Modernisation (R&M) of RVUNL's outdated thermal units. The MoU between NGEL ( NTPC Green Energy) and RVUNL was signed to develop Renewable Energy Projects and Green Hydrogen Derivatives up to 25 GW and 1 million tonne capacities, respectively, in the State of Rajasthan.
