NTPC has set a goal of adding 5 GW of installed capacity to demonstrate its commitment to providing clean, reliable, and cost-effective energy solutions. In keeping with its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, NTPC plans to install 3 GW of renewable energy (RE) capacity.
The power generator wants to bolster India's energy infrastructure by adding 2 GW to its thermal energy capacity. With the successful addition of 3,924 MW of new capacity in FY24, NTPC's portfolio now stands at approximately 76 GW of installed capacity overall. Currently, the group has an operational RE capacity of 3.5 GW, with a pipeline surpassing 20 GW.
By 2032, NTPC is looking to expand its non-fossil brd capacity to 45-50% of the company’s portfolio, including 60 GW RE capacity for a total portfolio of 130 GW. It has also set a target of producing 40 million tonnes (MT) of coal from its captive mines in the current financial year ending March 2025. The targeted quantity will account for 15% of NTPC’s annual requirement.
The company achieved an impressive coal despatch of 34.15 MT and coal production of 34.38 MT in FY24.
