Lloyds Engineering Works (LEWL), in consortium with Primetals Technologies India and Primetals Technologies Austria GmbH, has received a Letter of Acceptance from SAIL’s IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) to set up a 4.2 million tonnes per annum pellet plant complex at Burnpur.

The contract is valued at about ₹613 crore for the Indian portion, plus €18.26 million, with project completion targeted within 39 months from the contract’s effective date. Under the award, the consortium will undertake engineering, supply and integration of critical process equipment and systems, along with associated works required to deliver a fully operational pellet facility.

The new complex is expected to enhance ISP’s iron-ore value addition and raw-material security, supporting consistent feed quality for downstream steelmaking and improving cost efficiency. The project also underscores LEWL’s expanding role in core steel-sector projects and strengthens collaboration with Primetals on technology-led execution.

Commissioning of the pellet plant will add meaningful capacity to SAIL’s overall raw-material preparation infrastructure, aligning with the company’s broader plans to lift productivity and reduce dependence on external pellet supplies. Further schedule milestones and execution updates are expected as the contract becomes effective.
