JSW Steel is considering Paradip, Odisha, as the site for its next expansion phase, as part of its long-term plan to achieve 50 million tonnes (MT) of steelmaking capacity by 2030.
Company officials confirmed that the proposed expansion aligns with JSW’s ongoing investments in eastern India, leveraging proximity to ports, raw material sources, and logistics infrastructure. The Paradip project will complement JSW’s existing plants in Vijayanagar and Dolvi, as well as its upcoming 13.2 MTPA greenfield project in Odisha.
The expansion will prioritize advanced, low-emission technologies, reinforcing JSW’s commitment to sustainable steel production and India’s Net Zero 2070 targets.
Industry experts believe that the Paradip site offers strategic advantages, including access to iron ore mines and export-ready facilities, making it an ideal choice for scaling up operations.
Once operational, the expansion is expected to boost local employment, enhance steel exports, and strengthen India’s position as a global steel manufacturing hub.
