Jindal Advanced Materials has stated that it intends to expand FRP rebar manufacturing capacity fivefold to 1 lakh metric tonnes by the following fiscal year to become a market leader. It currently has a production capacity of around 18,000 tonnes from two factories in Haryana, Pathredi and Hisar.
Jindal Advanced Materials (JAM) gears to become the world's largest FRP rebar producer. "We plan to reach a total production capacity of 1,00,000 metric tonnes per annum by the end of FY26. We are setting up a new plant for FRP (Fibre-reinforced Polymer) rebar in Pathredi on a 6-acre land which we have already acquired. We have also announced our plans to set up a carbon fibre plant in Trichy, Tamil Nadu," it said, without sharing any financial details. The company intends to expand by focusing on markets such as carbon fibre, sheet moulding compounds, infrastructure, and railroads.
FRP rebars are heat-resistant and 35% less expensive than steel rebars. The commodity is an important component in iconic construction projects such as the Burj Khalifa, the Kanagawa Motorway (Japan), and other Marina Piers and metro systems. These weigh more than three times as little as steel. With the expansion, the company targets segments like railways, infrastructure, sheet moulding compounds, and carbon fibre.

In January, JAM signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to set up a new manufacturing plant at a strategic investment of nearly ₹1,000 crore. JAM, part of the $38 billion O P Jindal Group, is a leading manufacturer of composite materials such as FRP rebars, carbon fibre, and cable trays.
