Inox Wind (IWL) shared the exciting news on Monday that its 3-megawatt (MW) Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) has been officially recognised and listed in the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM) by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). This means that the 3 MW wind turbine is now ready for commercial use.
The 3 MW wind turbine generator, developed with the globally renowned AMSC as the technology partner, is a proven turbine with over a decade of successful operation worldwide. It boasts a large 145-meter rotor diameter, making it one of the biggest in its category. The WTG is designed to be versatile, offering various hub height options, including 100 meters, 120 meters, and 140 meters.
One of the standout features of this turbine is its cost-effectiveness. It provides one of the lowest costs of energy on a per-unit basis. This results in reduced production costs, as well as savings in transport, logistics, and installation expenses. This advantage gives Inox Wind a sustainable edge in the Indian market.
With orders totaling more than 550 MW for the 3 MW WTGs, and now being listed in the RLMM, Inox Wind is gearing up for a significant increase in manufacturing and supply to meet the high demand. The CEO of Inox Wind, Kailash Tarachandani, expressed excitement about the RLMM listing, calling it a crucial milestone for the company. He mentioned that the 3 MW turbines are considered among the best in their class for Indian wind conditions. The product has garnered significant interest from customers in various segments, including PSU, IPP, and C&I. The RLMM listing is expected to expedite the supply and installation of these turbines.
Inox Wind's plans for the next decade align with India's Aatmanirbhar vision, which aims for self-reliance. As India targets reaching around 140 gigawatts (GW) of wind capacity by 2030, Inox Wind's 3 MW WTGs are poised to play a crucial role in driving growth and contributing to the country's renewable energy goals.
