Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the country's largest refiner, and Bharat Petroleum Corp plan to lift an additional 1 million barrels of oil from Saudi Aramco in February.
According to corporate sources, the kingdom reduced the official selling price of its primary export grade for February to the lowest level in 27 months, prompting two state refiners in India to look to increase their imports of Saudi crude oil.
Saudi Aramco usually notifies Asian purchasers of their monthly oil allotment on the 10th of each month.
Indian oil companies did not respond to seeking comments, while Saudi Aramco declined to comment, according to Reuters.
According to sources, IOC is looking for extra oil from Saudi Arabia and West Africa, partly because it has difficulty purchasing Russian light sweet crude Sokol due to payment issues.
