India and Russia have opened fresh discussions on expanding cooperation in the steel sector, signaling a possible boost for raw material partnerships, technology exchange, and industrial collaboration. The talks took place in New Delhi during a meeting between India’s steel secretary and Russia’s deputy minister of industry and trade on April 16, 2026.
According to India’s steel ministry, the roundtable focused on key areas including raw material sourcing, technological collaboration, equipment manufacturing, and research opportunities between the two countries. The development comes at a time when global steel markets are closely watching supply chains, production efficiency, and strategic trade relationships.
For the steel industry, the meeting highlights a broader push toward deeper international engagement in critical inputs and advanced manufacturing.
