Fives Group has signed a major contract with JSW Steel to supply annealing furnaces for new electrical steel processing lines at JSW’s Vijayanagar Works in Toranagallu, Karnataka. The project will support production of non-grain-oriented electrical steel, a key material used in electric vehicles, motors and electrical equipment.
The project includes one annealing and pickling line with an annual capacity of 600,000 mt, along with two annealing and coating lines, each designed for 270,000 mt per year. Fives will supply furnaces for all three lines as part of a consortium with John Cockerill.
For India’s steel industry, the development marks another step toward advanced value-added steel production, strengthening domestic capability in electrical steel and supporting future demand from EVs, industrial motors and energy infrastructure.
